Dreams do come true!! I was taught early on to never lose site of what truly matters and always believe that you can achieve anything you believe in. My dream came true in March 2010 as I was crowned Mrs. Minnesota International 2010 in St. Cloud, MN.
Inspired by her young neighbor, a delightful girl by the name of Mickey, Susie has watched Mickey's family (and an innocent child at the age of 3), grow up with this painful disease. Susie says, "There is no day off in the life of a child with juvenile diabetes. As Mrs. Minnesota 2010, it is my commitment to be the voice of hope and to touch the lives of all the children who suffer with this devastating disease each and every day. It is my mission to promote my platform in hopes that we may someday find a cure.
I have been an active volunteer spokesperson and advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) for over 10 years now and have been involved with the organization by participating in the Walk to Cure Diabetes, Imagination Ball and many other speaking engagements to educate and raise awareness. This magical journey has opened many doors for me and gave me the passport to travel through-out our great state of Minnesota. I will continue down my Path to a CURE in hopes that one day we will find a cure!
I am a Registered Dental Hygienist and for the past 16 years has worked in private practice along with being a Clinical Instructor. I also own a Professional AIr-brush Spray Tanning Business "Bronze Beauties by Susie." I am married to Doug Overvold who is the President of Total Energy Concepts. A company which focuses on helping businesses reduce their carbon footprint. We met on Match.com and share the same birthdays! We have been "clicking" ever since. A true match made in heaven!
Susie, Doug and their two cocker spaniels enjoy living on Lake Minnetonka. The family loves boating, fishing, snowmobiling, bonfires in the backyard and listening to the call of the Minnesota loons on the lake at the end of the day. She is an avid fitness enthusiast and practices CorePower Yoga (hot/vinyasa flow), meditation and pilates. Gardening, bird watching, spending quality time with Hunter and most recently her new puppy Miss Tiara. My hopes and dreams are to one day have have a champion line of award winning American Cockers and be the best owner, handler, breeder and all around unconditional love to my Cockers. I look forward to the Ride!
